YouTube to crack down on some firearm videos

YouTube will start cracking down on some videos
that feature firearms. The company rolled out new guidelines Monday
banning content that shows how to assemble or manufacture “a firearm, ammunition, high
capacity magazine, homemade silencers/suppressors, or certain firearms accessories.” The company will also block videos that promote
or link to websites that sell firearms or some accessories. A YouTube spokesperson reportedly said the
company will start enforcing the guidelines in April. The National Shooting Sports Foundation said
in a statement that YouTube’s announcement is “troubling” and argued the site will block
more content than it says it will. Bloomberg reports a YouTube spokesperson said
the company routinely updates and adjusts enforcement guidelines.
