WISN 12 Editorial: Gun violence needs common-sense solution

EDITORIAL WITH JAN WADE. GOVERNOR EVERS HAS CALLED A
SPECIAL SESSION FOR NOVEMBER 7,
THE LEGISLATURE TO TAKE UP GUN
CONTROL MEASURES THAT GOP
LEADERS ARE NOT WILLING TO
DEBATE. THE GOVERNOR WANTS BIPARTISAN
COOPERATION TO PASS COMMON SENSE
LEGISLATION. ONE OF THE BILLS WOULD REQUIRE
UNIVERSAL BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR
ALL FIREARMS PURCHASED IN
WISCONSIN. THE OTHER WOULD IMPLEMENT A RED
FL LAW, ALLOWING A JUDGE TO
TAKE GUNS AWAY FROM PEOPLE
DEEMED TO BE A DANGE
LEADERS THINK THESE BILLS
INFRINGE ON THE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS OF GUN OWNERS,
PARTICULAR THE SECOND
AMENDMENT, BUT A RECENT POLL
