Uberti 1872 Open Top Revolver Details

welcome to the slick sixguns network and this week we are going to be doing and overview
of the uberti 1872 open top that and more coming right up. welcome all to my channel im your host slick
sixguns and if we are meeting for the first time im here to promote the sport of cowboy
action shooting as well as other western shooting sports so if you are interested in stuff like
that stay tuned before getting started on the specifications of ubertis 1872 open top
i have to orient you to pieces of the revolver in which im going to be talking about so you
are familiar with them first you can see the cylinder then the wedge the barrel the ejector
rod housing and ejector rod as well as the arbor the grips on the 1872 open top are one
piece walnut my version of the 1872 open top features a stainless steel finish on all of
the surfaces to include the cylinder the hammer and the barrel the uberti 1872 open top comes
in several different calibers this version comes in 45 colt it features a blade front
sight with a notch on the rear of the barrel for the rear sight the sights are fixed and
cannot be changed except through some sort of filing method the barrel is round and stainless
steel this version of ubertis 1872 open top features a stainless steel back strap the
hammer on the 1872 open top features some grooves on the hammer spur so that it is easier
to grip your thumb the firing pin is also mounted on the face of the hammer the hammer
also features a manual safety that must be engaged by turning a screw so that the safety
comes out from the hammer and keeps the firing pin from entering the hole in the frame it
is a cartridge revolver so it is loaded through the rear of the cylinder by means of a loading
gate the firing pin strikes the cartridges through a hole in the frame as you can see
here the overall length of my version of ubertis 1872 open top is just over 11 inches the barrel
on my version is 5 and a half inches the barrel is attached to the frame by means of a wedge
that is inserted into a notch in the arbor on the barrel this cartridge revolver features
a ejector rod housing and ejector rod that can be separated from the barrel by means
of a screw the trigger guard on ubertis 1872 open top is round the notch on the arbor is
where the wedge goes so that the barrel can be attached to the frame the revolver has
a capacity of six rounds there are six grooves in the barrel the rifling in the barrel is
a one in sixteenth right handed twist rate which means that a round will make one full
turn in 16 inches the cylinder on ubertis 1872 open top is engraved and finally the
overall weight of ubertis 1872 open top is just over two and a half pounds this concludes

  1. My first cowboy gun was a heritage rough rider but that ended up being a POS so I sold it and bought a Pietta 1873 in .22 LR. Let’s say I was interested in getting a cowboy gun in a cartridge suited for more purposes other than plinking. Would you think this would be a good fit? I love how unique it is and how it harkens back to the Colt Dragoon.
