Hello everybody, this is Ana- Maria at the Northern Lights Impact where we are spreading noteworthy news. This week is all about Davos. Quoting and reading from an article by CNBC. which is named “Snipers security guards and soldiers keep the elite safe at Davos and it’s not cheap” They are mentioning a couple of numbers which are interesting. But first, I would like to share my screen because I think there is a noteworthy picture here in case you haven’t seen it yet. This picture tells so much about where we are today, as a society. Here’s a Police sniper. He’s on the roof of the Davos Congress Center, on the eve of the opening day of the World Economic Forum. Having said that just by looking at some of the numbers I noticed here… They’re talking about 3,000 attendees in Davos, this very very small place in the Alps. Some easily recognized names Christine Lagarde, ECB President. Deepika Padukone, Bollywood Star. George Soros, Chairman of Soros Fund Management. Greta Thalberg, Climate Activist. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the IMF. Ren Zhengfei, Huawei Technologies, Founder. Steven Mnuchin, US Treasury Secretary. Famous people, astoundingly prolific business contributors, 119 billionaires, all partaking at Davos this year. Soldiers patrol the streets of the small ski resort town of Davos. Security checks are carried out on personnel vehicles, bags, access roads and in all areas. Another Sniper of Swiss Police is standing on top of the Congress Center. Overall Costs for this security are $ 9.6 million. This sum is split among several stakeholders. 1/4 or $2.3 million of those costs are borne by the WEF another 1/4 by the Canton of Grisons. Davos municipality pays 1/8 of the costs and the Federal government around 1/3, about $3.1 million. In the previous year the Army has incurred costs of around $33 million per annual meeting. The WEF notes that all overall the deployment of the armed forces to support the event is funded through the Swiss Defense Department’s budget and Switzerland’s Parliament authorized the deployment of up to 5,000 Armed Forces personnel for civil support duties so what they’re saying is that the overall cost of deploying troops during the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meetings is much the same as that incurred by the same battalions when on regular training and in previous years when deployment of the Armed Forces has cost around $32 million. They are stating that the threat of a potential terrorist attack at an event like the forum is the forefront of the authority’s mind This is Davos How nice to see this picture It’s very artistic and it’s representing the armed personnel on the rooftop of a hotel in Davos, Switzerland. High Security Costs and High Revenues. In 2017-2018 WEF Revenues were $337 million. So with this being said, I’m going to be ending the small awareness about the security at Davos. For this clip I quoted and read from an article by CNBC. I wish everybody very nice evening.
