Police: Marcell Willis Used Personal Handgun in Grand Forks Walmart Shooting

WE HAVE NEW INFORMATION ON THIS WEEK’S DEADLY SHOOTING AT THE GRAND FORKS WALMART. POLICE SAY THE GUN USED BY MARCELL WILLIS WAS HIS OWN PERSONAL WEAPON, NOT A MILITARY-ISSUED ONE. GRAND FORKS POLICE SAY WILLIS USED A SMITH AND WESSON M & P, 9 MILLIMETER SEMI-AUTOMATIC HANDGUN IN THE SHOOTING SPREE. ACCORDING TO INVESTIGATORS, WILLIS LEGALLY PURCHASED THE FIREARM, BUT THEY DID NOT RELEASE WHEN HE BOUGHT THE GUN, OR WHO HE BOUGHT IT FROM. POLICE ALSO SAY THE SHOOTING WAS CAUGHT ON THE STORE’S SURVEILLANCE VIDEO. THE FOOTAGE SHOWS WILLIS ENTERING THE STORE JUST AFTER 1:00 A-M TUESDAY MORNING. HE SHOT AND KILLED GREGORY WEILAND AND SHOT AND INJURED LISA BRAUN BEFORE TAKING HIS OWN LIFE. POLICE EXPECT TOXICOLOGY RESULTS WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS, TO SEE IF WILLIS WAS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS AT THE TIME.
