Hello YouTube and welcome to this first shooting video ! Today, Mosin Nagant 91/30 PU Sniper at 50 meters Yeah, 50 meters… It’s not much, but for now I don’t have a choice and it’s better than nothing I shoot a “C50” target, used a lot in France, the black circle in the center has a 21 cm length “Not even warming up ?” “Don’t you want a coffee or something first ?
– Nope !” Most people shoot .22Lr at this range, so you’re always being poked a bit when you shoot something bigger 😛 The bolt tends to get blocked a bit, it seems to be very common with Mosin A lot of videos talk about this detail on YouTube, maybe I’ll try to do something about it someday It’s not like I had a lot of experience, but those 5 shots seem not bad to me for a gun of this kind Let’s try 5 more rounds… The Mosin Nagant shots 7.62X54R, one of the oldest cartridge still in service (invented in 1891 !) It’s also used, for example, by the Dragunov and PKM Not to be confused with 7.62×39 (shot by the AK47) or the 7.62×51 NATO (Scar H for example) The first number isn’t enough… ! Note I’m shooting surplus ammunitions, not very expensive but probably not the best quality ever If you also take in consideration my limited experience and improvised rest… … You’ll get a video which isn’t necessarily the most objective video ever, it’s mostly meant for entertainment That being said performances seem pretty good to me … I know some airsoft snipers who would like to get this kind of performances at 50 meters 😛 My improvised rest is just a backpack with cushions in it I didn’t want to buy a real rifle rest or something, at least for now The gun gets hot very fast, the barrel is very hot already, and not that I’m trying to minimze my possible own mistakes But I think the hot barrel is making the shots more spread on this serie So between this serie and the next one, I waited for about 10 minutes Which I guess wasn’t a bad idea, because this grouping is going to be much better Not so bad for a 70 years old rifle (my model was made in 1944 according to the markings) ! The buttstock is just a flat piece of metal, your shoulder is getting all the recoil You get used to it, but it gets kind of painful after a while It doesn’t help pulling serenely the trigger… Note the trigger doesn’t really tell you when you’re about to shoot : you pull, you pull, you pull… And the shot goes before you can really tell I’m going to shoot a last serie of cartridges, but this time I’m going to stand My hits will be on the left too much, I might be unintentionally compensating for the recoil My left arm is getting tired too, my last shots will be too low… My last shot isn’t even going to be in the black ! Oh well… Here it is, I hope you’ll like it, don’t hesitate to leave a comment And thanks for watching !
