Making a KNIFE GUN

Everybody knows not to bring a knife to
a gun fight But what if you had a knife gun? On a serious note, this machine is
ridiculous, it’s dangerous and my goal with these videos is to, hopefully, inspire you to challenge yourself to learn new things and to prove that you are capable and with that in mind this video isn’t about making a weapon it’s about a design challenge and solving a problem that problem being, I need to shoot
knives I mean come on I had to clamp this backstop to the part
because I didn’t think about how these grooves would interact with the bearing
on the router It just so happens the width of this part is perfect This is a sheet of UHMW It’s a bearing
plastic like Teflon And I just scuffed the bottom of this channel because I’m going to glue it down inside These two pieces of polycarbonate will
become the ends for the magazine For the knives, I drew them up in fusion
360, had them laser-cut by an online service and then shipped them straight to my friend Steve Pellegrino who’s a knife maker from Philadelphia he wanted in on the project so he ground the bevels and he treated the steel So behold… the Knife Gun so it only shoots to about maybe eight feet But I mean… It shoots knives, it sticks into a target, what more do you want? This is ridiculous, I’m insane If you liked this video you’re welcome to subscribe and if you want to see more ridiculous machines like this that I have made you can watch this playlist right here That’s it for this one guys, see you next time
