Maintenance Tips for a Sig Sauer 226 9mm Gun : Cleaning the Guide Rod of a Sig Sauer 226 9mm Gun

Alright, so here we are with these four pieces
here. You can see our guide rod; you can see our barrel, our slide and our lower receiver
here. We’re going to take now and we’re going to use break free. Now break free is basically
just a cleaner and a lubricant and a preservative of the metal. And what we’re going to do is
you can start in any order, I typically start from the smallest up, I’m just going to start
with the guide rod here. And what I’m going to do is I’m just going to spray all down
that guide rod and spring. And like I said, its just as easy to take this spring off if
you feel more comfortable with working with it this way, I just sometimes I leave it on
the guide rod just simply so I can get a little bit better grip and I can really get in there
and then at the end I’ll just kind of slide this spring off and I’ll set it down then
I’ll really work in by hand this break free into this guide rod. I’m just letting myself
know I’m covering the whole thing. Alright, now that I got that worked out, I’m going
to go to my barrel and I’m just going to do the same thing with the outside of my barrel.
