Kung Fu Weapon Training & Meihuaquan : Rotating Bo Staff Shaolin Kung Fu

In this segment, I’m going to show you the
basics of the Staff technique. Staff technique is very important, okay. If you don’t have
good Staff technique or good basics, then in the future when you learn the techniques
and the forms of the Staff, you’re not going to be as good. Okay, so rotating the Staff.
Okay, it’s very important that one learns how to properly handle the Staff. So first
I’m going to show you inward rotating. Okay, standing in a Fighting Stance, you want to
hold the Staff by one third, okay, with your left hand-your right hand, okay , pretty closely
together; not too far away; very close to each other. So you want to put the stick like
that, rotate under your arm, turn. This is the inward rotate. Okay, so you start as beginning
and then twist around your shoulder, around your shoulder, okay. So you start off slowly
as rotating the Staff inward. Now outward is completely the opposite. Inward is going
this way, outward is going the other direction. Go, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
eight, nine, ten. Okay, make sure your hand is grabbing to the Staff tightly. Okay. So
ladies and gentlemen, this is called the Swinging of the Staff as one of the basic technique
that we learn in Staff.

  1. Then go post your own instructional video himynameisrelik if your so skillful. These videos are a blend of having fun and using shaolin not trying to prove you are the best. If one of these shaolin guys with iron skin was to get serious they would probably have no trouble taking your staff with there bare hands.

  2. dude wushu and kung fu are THE SAME. wushu is the name used by people in china and kung fu is used by westerner. the thing ur talking about is contemporary and traditional. contemporary is the exhibition type and traditional is the non-acrobatics one but they are all the same.

  3. Actually, the first one he did was going forwards, using gravity, but the second one he use was the backwards one!

They are both used during the very first staff form!

  4. just for everyones knowledge dont put your hands as close together as he did you wont get any power in your application

  5. especially for those that come from different branches of languages. English and Chinese are about as far apart in the language family as possible.

  6. that particular move is not for power or striking. more for confusing the enemy and blocking. Also looks rather fancy in our forms. I am a practitioner of northern shaolin gong fu and wushu.

  7. ya but if ur hands are close together u dont get any power for blocking either. i practice a traditional style of kung fu. and it is basic physics u dont get leverage if ur hands are close together. just try it yourself u will understand. if your hands are too close ur weapon no matter how fast u swing it will be knocked out of your hands. speedy flowers only equal confusion if the other person isn't a martial artist. when used correctly a strong flower can be used to parry and [email protected] time

  8. I always want to learn how to use the fighting stick..Now I can try to practice this technique..Thanks for the tuturail. I shall call you.. MASTER…..LOL….

  9. k17virus, srry to bother u, but shi fu hui is the real deal, and he could without a doubt lay your ass into the dirt several times over.

  10. rick, the reason why it says bo staff is for two reasons. 1. The bo is a certain length of staff (longer than the japanese jล.) around 6 feet. 2. They have staff in the title most likely to make it easier for someone searching for staff videos to find and watch this video. They probably didn't use the chinese term for this same staff length (gun) because it would draw people searching for videos about hand guns.

  11. or bo-bo ๐Ÿ™‚

But i think "bo" is a special kind of staff, i cant tell wich though…, then it would be here to specify wich kind of staff is used

  12. very nice rotation. but the staff hit the floor a few times cause hes a bit too short XD

i know he's not a real monk, and he just practices the art of shaolin, but if i were a shaolin monk i would carry a staff with me everywhere i go!

  13. Not as bad as I feared, since he was wearing orange pajamas, but he was weaving his body all around, rather than putting the force into the weapon. My basic observation is the flowinger the robes the weaker the taiji. Yes I know this isn't taiji.

  14. well, technicaly, the more your clothes flow, the more your body is moving. You can be very stable without moving your body, but you cannot use it's full power unless it's moving. Like stone and water

  15. Yes. If you want to learn martial arts go to a proper teaching establishement, gym, dojang or whatever.

Trying to learn the martial arts on your own is at best very hard and at worst you will pick up all sorts of bad habits that nobody can tell you about. Till your first fight that is, then they will become obvious.

  16. He's doing only half of the spin, the hands should be pointed towards each other and you do the action he did only on right on both amrs, so you get more, faster and firmer spin. That's it.

  20. You can make fun of him, but just remember, he can shoot you with a rock using his pinky from a good 50 yards away and you'll never know what happened! lol

  21. Try and swing your stick forward as much as possible, like a wheel rolling forward, not a wobbling wheel. Hip and waist movements are essential.

  22. For everyone saying dont use your hands close together as he does because you wont get power…youre wrong lol. I use wush staff alot. when you use your hands closer together it gives speed and power. The faster the staff spins the power power you get.
