Firearms stolen from Helena storage facility


THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES INTO MULTIPLE FIREARMS THAT WERE STOLEN FROM A STORAGE UNIT EARLIER THIS WEEK. HELENA POLICE SAY THE THEFT OCCURRED ON THE 100 BLOCK OF DUNBAR JUST OFF CUSTER AVENUE SOMETIME BETWEEN MONDAY AND TUESDAY. ACCORDING TO LAW ENFORCEMENT…THE LOCK HAD BEEN CUT OFF THE STORAGE UNIT. A DOZEN FIREARMS WERE TAKEN…RANGING FROM RIFLES TO SHOTGUNS. NO SURVEILLANCE VIDEO IS AVAILABLE. POLICE ARE NOW WORKING WITH THE BUREAU OF ALCOHOL TOBACCO AND FIREARMS AND F-B-I TO TRACK DOWN THOSE RESPONSIBLE. STEALING GUNS IS NOT UNCOMMON IN THE HELENA AREA. FOR SOME ITS A CRIME OF OPPORTUNITY IN THE FORM OF DOLLAR SIGNS. POLICE ARE NOW ASKING FOR THE COMMUNITY’S HELP TO SOLVE THE CASE.” The biggest thing we can do is look to the local community because somebody is probably going to try to sell these guns or somebody will see somebody with these guns.
